This demonstrates the size difference between the original Australian native bee and a later variety. Not sure if it was deliberately introduced or just arrived via transport etc.

Even though it's a closer shot the size difference is huge. These are nicer looking. The UK bumble bee is larger. I took some photos while I was there, but it was before my macro days so all are pretty ordinary or blurred.

Different flower and it could be a different bee, there were heaps of both varieties.

If the drought continues, there won't be much left in the garden for them.
